主題哲學家：布蘭登教授（Prof. Robert Brandom）
兩年一度的「當代哲學家系列」，繼Davidson (2002)、Peacocke (2004) 以及McDowell (2006) 之後，我們邀請了布蘭登教授(Prof. Robert Brandom)為本次會議的主題哲學家。布蘭登教授為匹茲堡大學的Distinguished Service Professor並享有Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences之榮譽，專長為語言哲學、心靈哲學、邏輯哲學等。
布蘭登教授對英美與歐陸兩大哲學傳統都有相當顯目的貢獻。他的哲學主題在於發展一套以社會踐行為基礎的語言和心靈觀。他認為意義和意向性的終極來源是我們共有的生活方式，而非任何個體的特色，在此核心思想之上，他分別發展出獨特的語意學、邏輯觀、與知識論。
此次研討會將有專文討論他的意向性理論、語意學、邏輯觀、知識論、以及他的社會踐行觀之應用等主題。雖然各文章所屬領域不同，但可以預期彼此之間將有許多可以互相借鏡的地方，讓大家更能掌握布蘭登哲學的系統性。另外，布蘭登教授本人還會當場回應各篇文章與提問，這種多方向的學術交流將能帶動熱烈、深刻的哲學討論，機會難得，歡迎各界哲學同好一起來共襄盛舉！
