一、課程說明
「有些事情現在不做，一輩子都不會做了。」（電影《練習曲》），比方學習古希臘文！

學習一個語言好比開了一扇視窗，接觸到一個嶄新的文化與思考模式。而學習一個古代語言尤其如此，彷彿搭乘穿越時空的機器，去認識古人的智慧，也挖掘一個你不曾想過的妳/你的可能性。古希臘文明遺產對於整個西方的哲學、文學、宗教、藝術、與物質文明傳統有著深遠重大影響。從羅馬時期以來、中世紀、文藝復興、精神分析一路到後現代，人們不停地與古希臘進行對話，站在反省批判或重新發掘古希臘文明遺產的基礎上，為自己當時文化尋找新的定位與發展。正因為如此，古希臘文語言學習一直為歐洲大學人文教育的基礎核心課程。本課程「初級古希臘文一」也是以基礎人文教育的理念為核心，透過古希臘文語言學習，帶領台灣年輕學子們探索古希臘之美，這是我的使命，也是畢生職志。期待古希臘文明與當代台灣的交會將激盪出更多的火花，為台灣與華語世界加入新的視野與思考觀點。

上課時我們將著重於閱讀能力培養與翻譯練習，輔以文法分析。上課方式為閱讀住在雅典城北方的農民Dicaeopolis他的古希臘文小故事作為一個引線，介紹古希臘農民生活與奴隸制度（第2週）、城邦制度與民主政治（第3週）、女性地位（第4週）、諸神與人類的關係（第5-6週）、荷馬史詩（第7-8週）、雅典衛城與帕德農神廟（第10週）、古希臘節慶與戲劇（第11週）、科學與醫學（第12週）、貿易與殖民（第13週）、雅典的崛起與波希戰爭（第14週），最後三週將簡介希臘三哲蘇格拉底（第15週）、柏拉圖（第16週）、與亞里斯多德（第17週）的哲學。

學習古希臘文雖然挑戰性較高，但也是一趟充滿驚喜與豐收的旅程。第一堂課結束之際你就會閱讀古希臘文了！第二個學期「初級古希臘文二」修課同學們將有能力閱讀柏拉圖早期對話錄諸如《辯詞篇》、與Herodotus的《歷史》原文。第三個學期「中級古希臘文一」修課同學將有能力閱讀柏拉圖中期對話錄諸如《理想國》與《費多篇》、Euripides的悲劇《美蒂亞》與《酒神的女侍》、Sophocles的悲劇《伊底帕斯王》原文。第四個學期「中級古希臘文二」修課同學將有能力閱讀亞里斯多德《尼可馬各倫理學》、荷馬史詩《伊里亞特》與《奧德賽》原文。非常期待各位同學一起加入這趟穿越時空之旅！

三、教學課綱
第1週 課程簡介並開始閱讀古希臘文！
Readings:  Chapter One
Grammar: Verb forms: stems and endings. Nouns: genders, stems, endings, cases and agreements. Use of the definite articles. Accents.

第2週 古希臘的農民生活與奴隸制度
Readings:  Chapter Two
Grammar : Verb forms: indicative mood; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd persons singular.
Proclitics. The imperative. Articles, adjectives, and nouns; singular, all cases.

第3週 古希臘的城邦制度與民主政治
Readings:  Chapter Three
Grammar: Verb forms: 3rd person plural, imperatives, and infinitives. Articles, adjectives, and nouns; singular and plural, all cases.

第4週 古希臘的女性
Readings:  Chapter Four
Grammar: Verb forms: all persons, singular and plural. Declensions of nouns and adjectives. Feminine nouns and adjectives of the 1st declension. Masculine nouns of the 1st declension. Feminine nouns of the 2nd declension. 1st and 2nd declension adjectives. Formation of adverbs. The definite article as case indicator.

第5週 奧林帕斯諸神
Readings: Chapter Five
Grammar: Contract verbs. Recessive accent of finite verbs. Article at the beginning of a clause. Elision. Agreement of subject and verb. Personal pronouns. Attributive and predicate position. Possessives.

第6週 古希臘神明與人類的關係
Readings:  Chapter Six
Grammar: Verb forms: middle voice. Deponent verbs. Some uses of the dative case. Prepositions.

第7週 荷馬史詩（一）：伊里亞特
Readings:  Chapter Seven
Grammar: 3rd declension consonant stem nouns: velar and dental stems, nasal stems, labial and liquid stems. 3rd declension adjectives. The interrogative pronoun and adjective. The indefinite pronoun and adjective.

第8週 荷馬史詩（二）：奧德賽
Readings:  Chapter Eight
Grammar: Participles: present or progressive: middle voice. Two important irregular nouns. 1st and 3rd declension adjective. Numbers. Expression of time when, duration of time, and time within which.

Grammar:  Participles: present or progressive: active voice. More 3rd declension nouns. Uses of the genitive case. Some uses of the article.

第11週 古希臘的節慶與戲劇

第12週 古希臘的科學與醫學

第16週 哲學家柏拉圖

Grammar: Athematic 2nd aorists. More 3rd declension nouns. More contract verbs. Contract nouns of the 2nd declension.

第17週 哲學家亞里斯多德
Readings:  Chapter Sixteen
Grammar: The passive voice. More verbs with athematic presents and imperfects.

第18週 期末考試

四、成績考核
上課前同學們事先閱讀指定翻譯段落，上課時每位同學輪流翻譯，第三個小時介紹下週閱讀範圍的字彙與文法。期中考試與期末考試佔各佔20%，隨堂測驗佔40%，上課參與佔20%。沒有家庭作業，以上課參與翻譯代替，因此妳/你的課前準備與每次出席是非常重要的。我們會不定期點名，缺席每次扣總成績5%。
