會議簡介：
清華大學哲學研究所兩年一度的「當代哲學家系列」，繼Davidson (2002)、Peacocke (2004)、McDowell (2006)之後，已經敲定了系列之四的主題哲學家，Robert Brandom。Brandom教授，現為匹茲堡大學Distinguished Service Professor of Philosophy，美國學術院院士，專長涵蓋語言哲學、心理哲學、形上學、知識論、維根斯坦哲學等。他的專書 Making It Explicit (1994)，廣受哲學界的好評，讓他贏得具有高額研究獎金的「黑格爾獎」。而最近他又在英國牛津大學著名的「洛克講座」(John Locke Lectures)，發表一套全新的語言哲學進路，他稱之為「分析式的實用主義」(analytic pragmatism)，想必也將帶動許多熱烈的討論。
Brandom教授已經接受本所的邀請，將於2008年3月初訪問台灣，屆時將在「Brandom哲學研討會」(Conference on Brandom’s Philosophy)中，給兩個專題演講，主持專書座談，以及當場評論所有發表論文。
12/14舉行的「研討會論文發表人會前會」(mini-conference)，安排論文發表人於會上宣讀其論文之初稿，以方便發表人廣徵改進意見，作為其進一步潤飾論文之依據。
