課程內容：

本課程為必選的專家課程之一，主要目的是要同學學習如何仔細地閱讀重要的哲學經典、並學習做進一步的哲學分析與批判討論。本課程的內容為休謨最重要的著作，A Treatise of Human Nature。涵蓋的主題將包括：
(1) 休謨的心理哲學；
(2) 休模的自我理論；
(3) 休謨的情感與行動理論；
(4) 休謨的道德理論。

授課方式：
前半部主要以演講的方式進行，以主題切入文本，同學必須事先閱讀，在課前把問題寄給老師，以便形成討論焦點。後面幾堂課將安排同學做口頭報告，同學必須事先選好一篇二手文獻，作為討論的背景，以提出自己對休謨哲學的理解。

評分方式：

1. 課堂參與(20%)：包括課前準備（閱讀、提問）、課堂討論、口頭報告（需準備大綱；以一篇二手文獻為討論背景，明白提出論文將要討論的問題，以及自己要辯護的主張）；
2. 指定作業(20%)：包括翻譯、段落摘要等不同形式的指定作業；
3. 哲學論文(60%)：將口頭報告的內容發展成一篇哲學論文。
