課程目的與內容:
心理狀態一般分為兩大類,經驗(意識)狀態和意向狀態。意向狀態在我們的認知生活中扮演很關鍵的角色(涉及概念/語言能力、提供行為之解釋等),所以在當代心理哲學的探討中,引起許多重要的討論。本課程主要將以意向狀態的性格以及意向心理學的地位為關注焦點,介紹幾個不同的哲學立場,包括:Davidson的無法則一元論(anomalous monism)、Churchland的消除式物理主義(eliminative materialism)、Fodor的表徵式心理理論(representational theory of mind)。另外,在掌握了幾大心理理論之後,我們將在最後幾週涵蓋一些特殊主題:自我知識、情感、和精神分析;藉此,同學們可以更進一步地看到,之前有關意向狀態的討論,如何延伸到不同的心理主題上。
本課程屬於研究所之「廣包性」課程(而非「專題」課程),主要目的在介紹當代心理哲學中的重要議題和立場。不特別預設背景。預期效果是同學們將能從討論和閱讀中掌握並熟悉當代心理哲學的主要議題和不同立場,並因此能夠獨立地做相關的延伸閱讀。
二、課程形式:
主要由同學輪流做口頭報告,主動提出問題,老師再從中穿針引線,給出較完整的圖像。
三、課程要求:
1. 課堂參與(20%):正常出席、課前準備、課堂討論、口頭報告、隨堂小考;
2. 平時作業(20%):翻譯、文章摘要、論證重整、批評討論等各類作業;
3. 兩篇哲學論文(60%):Davidson(4/25),自然主義(5/23)。
